Sustainability
At Bija, sustainability is approached with intention rather than excess. We believe in fewer, better pieces, chosen for their material honesty, longevity, and quiet presence within the home.
Our collection is grounded in natural materials; timber, rattan, jute and linen selected for their texture, durability, and timeless appeal that are designed to age with character rather than be replaced.
We work with small-scale makers in Indonesia whose processes reflect generations of skill and care. Each piece carries subtle variations, marks of the human hand that make it uniquely its own.
This is production at a slower pace, where quality is prioritised over volume.
Our pieces are sourced directly and produced in limited quantities. By working closely with makers and importing in consolidated shipments, we aim to reduce unnecessary waste and excess.
We believe thoughtful sourcing is not about scale, but about connection to the material, maker and place.
Bija is not designed around trends or seasonal turnover. We encourage considered purchasing: choosing pieces you will live with, not cycle through.
